Students for Darfur is an organization committed to bringing about peace to the Darfur region of Sudan. In school we were taught about The Holocaust, Rwanda, Cambodia and other genocides of devastating proportions. When asked why we were studying such misery the response was always the same, “So that history does not repeat its self.” We took the responsibility of knowledge, pledging to never again let such atrocities take place. Now we look to Darfur and see a haunting resemblance. We feel that our promise was meant to be kept and we will do everything in our power to keep it.
We will do this by taking action to bring public awareness and political involvement. Our biggest action so far is the 400,000 Faces movement that has shown the world what 400,000 faces looks like and shown politicians the support of the public to broker peace.
